Civic Education and High School Essay Contest

Established more than 30 years ago, this program supports educational initiatives as well as a very competitive annual H.S. Essay Contest, which recognizes ten outstanding high school students with cash prizes for their submission of an essay based on a hypothetical question selected by the NYCLA’s Law Related Education Committee.

Honorable Harold Baer Jr & Dr Suzanne Baer Equity & Inclusion in the Judiciary Internship Program

Established in 1989 by former NYCLA President and United States District Court Judge Harold Baer and his wife, Dr. Suzanne Baer, selects up to six law students of color each year and places them in stipend-supported internships with both federal and state judges in the New York metropolitan area.
